Web Developer / Programmer (Entry Level)

Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative (“CMEEC”) is a public power entity that provides wholesale electric services to member-owner municipal electric utilities and participating wholesale customers located in Connecticut. CMEEC was established in 1976 as a publicly directed joint action supply agency, and its member owners currently include six of the seven municipal electric utilities in the state of Connecticut: Norwich Public Utilities, Groton Utilities, Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, Third Taxing District of the City of Norwalk, South Norwalk Electric and Water, and Bozrah Light & Power. CMEEC also provides the wholesale power requirements of the Mohegan Tribal Utility Authority.

CMEEC is looking for a qualified and highly motivated individual to serve as an entry level Web Developer / Programmer in support of our web and other applications within our Business Intelligence Department.

Primary Responsibilities

• Writing code for front-end interactive data-driven web applications, including layout, design and interactive UI elements using HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Help develop the server-side business and data layer logic and integration using C#, SQL
• Participate in developing, implementing software applications to support CMEEC data warehouse and reporting on an automated basis.
• Perform maintenance, expand functionality, and improve performance of internal software processes and tools to support CMEEC business functions.
• Provide technical and analytical support for existing business data solutions and responding to data requests.
• Participate in design of the standard and custom reports summarizing business data for review and analysis.
• Assist on these and various other special projects and tasks as assigned or directed.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, or another relevant field.
• Web developer experience building dynamic, data-driven web applications using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Visual Studio is strongly preferred.
• Foundational knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Visual Studio, C#.
• Understanding of OOP, design patterns.
• Knowledge of front-end frameworks (React, Angular, Blazor).
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database and SQL language, relational databases, dimensional data modeling and BI techniques.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, proficiency with Excel for financial and data analysis.
• Strong background and experience in mathematics and statistics.

Working Conditions

The individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this role includes close vision.  While performing the duties of this role, the individual is regularly required to maintain a stationary position for a prolonged period and to constantly operate and use a computer as well as other office equipment, and to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
