Top Shelf Café & Books is a dream brought to life by a women-owned, mother-daughter trio right here in North Stonington, CT.

Tiara grew up with a librarian’s heart—lost in stories and imagining a life surrounded by books—until she realized that dream didn’t quite pay the bills. But her love for reading never faded, and over time she discovered a new passion: crafting cozy, handcrafted drinks that feel like a warm hug.

Haley has always loved to cook. After honing her skills in culinary school, she brings that passion to every dish we serve, making sure you get food that’s made with care and expertise.

Then there’s Brenda, the matriarch with a lifelong dream of running her own café and she now gets to live her dream every day alongside her daughters. Brenda truly loves being part of the community and takes joy in welcoming every guest with a warm smile and a friendly hello.

Together, we’ve created a place where stories come alive—not just in books, but in the kitchen, the café, and the cozy corners we’ve lovingly crafted. We strive to offer well-priced books so everyone can keep reading without breaking the budget, alongside great, well-rounded meals and irresistible desserts made with love.
