This year, the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut has awarded $1,109,500 in grants supporting environmental and animal welfare initiatives across the region—the largest combined investment in these areas in the Foundation’s history. These investments were made possible in large part by two transformative funds: the Mary Janvrin & Natalie Janvrin Wiggins Fund for Birds, Other Animals & Nature, and the Peter Grayson Letz Fund for Animals & the Environment. Established through visionary bequests, these funds have helped position the Foundation as a statewide leader in environmental and animal welfare grantmaking, while also shaping our commitment to sustainable investing. From empowering underserved farmers and young leaders of color to supporting organizations caring for the region's most at-risk pets, these grants are strengthening both our environment and our communities. …and other organizations advancing conservation, sustainability, and environmental education across Eastern Connecticut.
