$10,000 Prize at stake in seCTer’s ‘Ledge Light Launch’ pitch competition

Entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses ready to expand are invited to apply for entry into a Shark Tank-style pitch competition and the chance to win a $10,000 grant.

Sponsored by the Southeastern CT Enterprise Region (seCTer), the Ledge Light Launch event is open to all entrepreneurs in eastern Connecticut. Applications are due by Sept. 10 for the Sept. 24 competition, which will be held at Tox Brewing, Bank Street, New London. A mandatory practice session is scheduled for 4 p.m., Sept. 18 at seCTer offices, 19B Thames Street, Groton.

Six finalists will be selected by seCTer staff to compete in timed presentations in front of a panel of local business leaders serving as judges.

The winner will take home a grant of up to $10,000 provided by seCTer through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

The grant is intended to help launch a business or provide funding for expansion of an existing business.

seCTer is the federally designated Economic Development Agency for the region and is charged with developing and implementing the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.
