A Message from the U.S. Small Business Administration Connecticut District Office

People Business

Staff Update, 250 Small Business Pledge, & Regional Manufacturing Summit

Today we announce the departure of District Director Catherine Marx, concluding her service leading the Connecticut District office.

Throughout her tenure, Catherine had the privilege of serving Connecticut's entrepreneurs, small business owners, lenders, economic development leaders, and SBA resource partners. Under her leadership, the Connecticut District Office expanded access to capital, strengthened business advising, increased contracting opportunities, and helped thousands of Connecticut small businesses start, grow, and thrive. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the District Office stood alongside Connecticut's small business community, assisting thousands of businesses as they navigated SBA relief programs and worked toward recovery.

Drawing on decades of leadership experience across federal, state, and local government, along with a strong background in finance, communications, and strategic marketing, Catherine worked to strengthen and expand Connecticut's small business ecosystem. She championed collaboration among lenders, resource partners, economic development organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies, fostering partnerships that broadened access to SBA programs and resources for entrepreneurs across the state. Her commitment to building relationships and connecting organizations created new opportunities for small businesses and contributed to a stronger, more collaborative entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As Catherine concludes her service with the SBA, she looks forward to exploring new opportunities to continue serving businesses and communities.

The Connecticut District Office extends its deepest appreciation to Catherine Marx for her leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our small business community and wishes her every success in the future.
