ALWAYS HOME RECEIVES $30,000 GRANT TO PREVENT FAMILY HOMELESSNESS

Always Home’s staff met with employees of Nordson EFD in Norwich to celebrate the award of a significant grant from Nordson Foundation. Joining them was Maria Spangler, Director of Nordson Foundation and Community Relations.

"We are deeply grateful to Nordson Foundation and the employees of Nordson EFD for their ongoing support of our mission to prevent family homelessness,” said Tricia Cunningham, Always Home’s Executive Director. “Rents have surged and families throughout Eastern Connecticut are struggling to stay housed. Just one unexpected financial crisis can trigger a slide into homelessness. This generous grant will help us extend our reach and provide more families with case management and the resources they need to secure stable housing.”

Since 1998, Always Home has addressed the emergency housing needs of Eastern Connecticut families with minor children. The nonprofit offers a comprehensive range of Family Housing Support Services that help families stabilize their housing. The agency is also a designated Family HUB for the 211/Homelessness Response System in Eastern Connecticut, providing intake assessments and case management to New London County and Windham County families who are homeless or within 14 days of homelessness. In the past year, Always Home responded to 603 families in housing crisis (1,956 family members including 1,135 children under the age of 18).

“We are thrilled to once again extend our support to Always Home, “ stated Francheska Cordero-Vera, Manager, HR Business Partner at Nordson EFD. “From everyone at Nordson EFD, congratulations! We look forward to seeing the community impact of this grant.”
