Bradley International Airport Launches Gift Card Collection to Help TSA Officers Amid Partial Government Shutdown

The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is launching a gift card drive to support the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Bradley International Airport (BDL) who continue to work during the current partial government shutdown without pay.

This effort was spearheaded after BDL received various forms of outreach from members of the community who were looking to show their support for TSA officers due to the ongoing financial hardships they are facing. The CAA, and many of its airline partners, have also made donations within federally accepted guidelines to the TSA officers at BDL.

“We thank the TSA officers at Bradley International Airport for the continuous hard work and dedication to our passengers,” said Michael W. Shea, Executive Director and CEO of the CAA. “The TSA is essential in maintaining the safety of air travel and we appreciate their efforts in upholding that safety during this challenging time. We also extend our gratitude to members of the community for their willingness to help in such a meaningful way.”

Donation Guidelines:

What items are needed?

• TSA officers can use gift cards for basic, everyday items for places such as gas stations, grocery stores, and common retailers
• Gift cards must be in denominations of $20 and will be distributed to officers by local TSA management at BDL
• Gift cards with Visa, MasterCard or American Express logo cannot be accepted

• Drop off location for gift cards is post security across from the A1 checkpoint
