Centreville Bank Foundation Supports TVCCA’s Meals on Wheels

The Centreville Bank Foundation, a longtime partner of Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA), has awarded the agency $3,000 to augment its Senior Nutrition program. The Foundation’s grants have over the years underwritten the delivery of Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors throughout eastern CT, and helped fund congregate lunch service for active elders at many regional senior centers. “These meals are particularly beneficial to low-income elders,” notes Senior Nutrition Director Eugene Theroux. “Their lack of economic resources, often combined with social isolation, makes them susceptible to food insecurity and to a higher incidence of chronic health conditions associated with poor nutrition.” The custom-tailored meals provided by TVCCA can mitigate the severity of these and other chronic conditions. “Centreville Bank Foundation is a community partner that we rely on to help us continue to support every senior in our area who needs our services.” For more information on TVCCA’s nutrition programs, as well as its other programs helping people in need in eastern Connecticut, please visit www.tvcca.org.
