Chamber ECT Celebrates Excellence in Service

After a careful consideration process, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is pleased to announce this year’s roundup of social service recognition honorees.

The Eastern CT Social Service Awards recognize agency staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond their work duties to provide essential support services to citizens of our region.

Nominated by their peers, the 2024 announcement is as follows: Board Member of the Year, Lonnie Braxton (Public Library of New London); Executive Director of the Year, Wendy Lusk (South East CT Community Center of the Blind, New London); Staff Member of the Year, Denisse Mateo (The Arc Eastern CT, Norwich); Volunteer of the Year, Elizabeth Shilosky (CT Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Southington); Collaboration of the Year, Community Foundation of Eastern CT (New London).

Presented with Honorable Mention is Petra, who is a therapy horse of High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center located in Old Lyme, CT.

“Our staff are impressed with the variety of organizations that were nominated. The Chamber is pleased to bestow this recognition as a testament to the long-standing importance these social service groups have on the vitality of our region,” states Tony Sheridan, Chamber President.

These six honorees will be formally recognized at the 15th Annual Social Service Recognition Breakfast, which will be held on Thursday, November 7 at the Holiday Inn Norwich. Registration is open to the public. Early-bird admission (on/before Nov. 1) is as follows: members, $30.00; non-members, $40.00.
