Chelsea Groton Foundation Funds Computer Lab for The Arc Eastern Connecticut

The Arc Eastern Connecticut received a grant from the Chelsea Groton Foundation for the purchase of computers and hardware to outfit a new computer lab at the agency’s Employment Transition Center in Groton.

Lori Dufficy, EVP and Chief Experience & Engagement Officer at Chelsea Groton Bank, who presented the check to The Arc ECT, says the Foundation is excited about the opportunity to help. “Each year, the Chelsea Groton Foundation proudly provides grants to over 100 worthy causes in our region,” she said. “We are so pleased to be able to fund the purchase of equipment for The Arc’s new computer lab, which will support so many community members as they participate in job training, apply for employment, and ultimately continue to make valuable contributions to our shared community.”

The grant will cover the purchase of laptops, docking stations, monitors, and wireless accessories. These upgrades will allow people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to build vital computer literacy, internet safety skills, and access a wide range of online vocational and educational resources.

“We are so grateful to the Chelsea Groton Foundation for their continued commitment to inclusion and opportunity,” said Kathleen Stauffer, CEO of The Arc Eastern Connecticut. “This lab is more than just an upgrade—it’s a critical investment in the future success of the people we support.”

The substantial investment in the Employment Transition Center will directly improve employment readiness, foster independence, and offer greater access to online resources, empowering people with IDD to achieve personal and professional success.
