Community Foundation Grant to TVCCA Assists Seniors in Windham

The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut has awarded Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) $3,000 through its Willimantic Basic Needs fund, which will support senior nutrition services in the town of Windham.

“This award couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Eugene Theroux, TVCCA’s Director of Senior Nutrition. “The Community Foundation’s continuing support has really helped our program increase the food security of seniors in Windham while also helping to address the unique and often unrecognized social needs of our elders.”

TVCCA’s Senior Nutrition Program delivers Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors and provides congregate lunch service for active elders at the Jillson Square Senior Center and Willimantic Senior Housing. “By enhancing our aging neighbors’ food security, providing vital social connections, and ensuring their safety and well-being,” says Mr. Theroux, “this service helps Windham seniors grow old in the comfort of their own homes.”
