The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut awarded Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) $12,000 through its Women and Girls Fund to support TVCCA’s Senior Nutrition program, specifically for women age 62 and older in New London. “Our Meals on Wheels and congregate dining program at the Broad Street Senior Center serve 150 older women in New London,” said Eugene Theroux, TVCCA’s Director of Nutrition Services. “The support we received from the Community Foundation is crucial to helping us make sure that we can provide the over 15,000 meals served to our senior women clients yearly.” TVCCA’s Meals on Wheels and congregate dining programs combine nutrition with the ability for staff to check in on participants and ensure that they are receiving any other supports they might need. “The Community Foundation has been a longtime partner of TVCCA,” noted Mr. Theroux. “The support they’ve given through their other funds and grant cycles augments many of the other supports and services that the agency provides.” For more information on TVCCA’s nutrition programs, as well as its other programs helping people in need in eastern Connecticut, please visit www.tvcca.org.
