How You Can Help Neighbors Impacted by SNAP Cuts and the Federal Shutdown

Over the past few days, at United Way of Southeastern Connecticut we have seen a surge in requests from community members asking how they can help during this challenging time. With the federal government shutdown and recent SNAP benefit reductions, more families than ever are turning to the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center and our member pantries for support.

Our priority right now is to bolster the amount of food available through our Food Center network so that we can continue meeting the growing need. Here’s how you can help:

Donate Food or Run a Food Drive

You can drop off individual food donations Monday - Friday during normal business hours at:

- Food Center (374 Broad Street, New London)

- United Way Office (283 Stoddards Wharf Rd, Gales Ferry)

Organize a food drive at your workplace.

Make a Donation: Your monetary donation helps us purchase food in bulk and fill critical gaps quickly. Donate to United Way and select “Gemma E. Moran Food Center” from the dropdown menu in the donation form at https://www.uwsect.org/ways-give
