Jorgensen Gallery Spring 2025 Exhibition “Calming Chaos” by Erin Leigh Boughamer ’94, UConn School of Fine Arts Alumna

Exhibition now open to public through March 21

"Calming Chaos,” a mesmerizing collection of works by abstract artist Erin Leigh Boughamer celebrating the tranquility and peace that exists even amidst life’s mayhem and discord, is on display through March 21 in Jorgensen Gallery on the lower level of Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UConn Storrs campus.  A reception with the artist (open to the public) will be held on Thursday, February 27 at 6 pm prior to the Jazz at Lincoln Center: New Orleans Songbook performance at

7:30 pm.

“Calming Chaos” is a collection of more than 25 stunning mixed media pieces, including intimate technically rendered intricate works on paper and large expressive organic imagery on canvas.

A 1994 graduate of UConn’s School of Fine Arts, Boughamer is a professional artist, educator, and entrepreneur living in Massachusetts. She enjoys the juxtaposition of things that are diametrically opposed and resolving them to bring equilibrium to a space through her art.

“Since childhood, I have been shown the duality of life, and as such, it has become my life’s journey to ‘solve its puzzle’ through my work,” Boughamer says. “For me, being an artist affords me the space and gives me the tools with which to explore in depth the fulcrum of this see-saw called life. That sweet spot in the middle, which when standing on the perfect location, will balance the most opposite of forces. Art was, and still is my safe space.”

During her more than 25-year career, she has created décor art and landscapes, abstract paintings and portraits, each creating unique expressions that stir the soul. Her Live Wedding and Event Painting is a unique experience, where she paints during a wedding or event to not only entertains guests but creates a treasured keepsake of the special day.

In 2013 she started her traveling art studio Paint Sip Fun, with the vision to educate, empower and inspire adults to get back in touch with their creative sides.

“It’s an absolute honor to have been chosen to be Jorgensen Gallery’s inaugural show for the School of Fine Arts Alumni,” said Boughamer.  “To have a gallery show where my art career began thirty years ago, is an incredible full circle moment. I am most humbled by this opportunity, and grateful to all those who have made this possible.”
