M&T Charitable Foundation Award Strengthens TVCCA’s Commitment to Preventing Homelessness

Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) is deeply grateful to the M&T Charitable Foundation for its $6,500 grant in support of TVCCA’s Homelessness Prevention and Diversion Financial Assistance Program. This meaningful investment underscores the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to strong, stable communities and will directly help keep homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring for individuals and families in our region. When unexpected hardships threaten a household’s stability, TVCCA’s Housing program steps in with timely, practical interventions designed to prevent eviction and avoid entry into shelter. By addressing urgent housing-related expenses and providing personalized support, the program helps families remain safely housed during moments of crisis—often at a pivotal turning point in their lives . “Our program is centered on stable housing and on people,” said Ida Parker, TVCCA’s Director of Housing. “We engage with each household to understand their circumstances and work together to find a path forward. Thanks to the M&T Charitable Foundation’s support, we’re able to extend critical assistance beyond the initial financial emergency and help clients build a more secure future.” The Foundation’s award helps cover housing-related costs for clients at risk of eviction, preserving not only their homes but also their financial well-being. Avoiding eviction protects credit ratings and safeguards a family’s ability to maintain their current lease or secure housing in the future—an impact that can resonate for years to come. “We meet people where they are,” Ms. Parker added. “By building on each person’s strengths and competence, we help them make progress toward both short- and long-term goals.”
