NEW LONDON, Conn. (April 28, 2026)—As college costs continue to rise nationwide, Mitchell College is introducing a bold solution designed to bring clarity, stability, and affordability to college-bound students and their families across Connecticut. Beginning in Fall 2026, Mitchell Promise 2.0 offers eligible students a locked, all-inclusive cost for four years—covering tuition, housing, and meals at a significantly reduced rate. The program expands on a pilot program for New London County students that was introduced in 2024. With the average annual cost of private colleges in the United States now exceeding $55,000—and increasing each year—many families face uncertainty about paying for college, which can impact if and where students enroll, and whether they persist to earn a degree. Mitchell Promise 2.0 addresses this challenge with a $30,000 fixed annual cost for four years, providing both long-term savings and an incentive for students to complete an undergraduate program. “Mitchell Promise 2.0 reflects our commitment to making a high-quality, private college education both accessible and predictable. This effort aligns with other efforts in our state to ensure Connecticut students have the opportunity to attend college,” said James Tweed, vice president of enrollment management. “Families deserve to know what to expect financially, and students deserve the confidence to focus on their education—not financial uncertainty—which in turn supports college completion.” A Locked-In, All-Inclusive Cost With this program, eligible students can earn a bachelor’s degree at Mitchell College for nearly half the standard cost—more than $120,000 in total savings over four years, representing nearly a 50% savings for some students. The $30,000 annual cost includes $20,000 for tuition and mandatory fees and $10,000 for on-campus housing and meals. This rate is locked for four years, ensuring that costs will not increase—even if tuition, housing, and meal rates rise during a student’s time at the college. To qualify for Mitchell Promise 2.0, students must be a Connecticut resident, have a household income of $150,000 or less, be admitted to Mitchell College, and have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0. In addition, they must comlpete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), and enroll as a full-time, first-time undergraduate student. Connecticut students interested in enrolling for Fall 2026 are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to secure their cost-of-attendance guarantee.Mitchell Promise 2.0 Delivers Discounted, Fixed Costs for 4-Year Degree
