Mystic Aquarium’s Back to School Bash to Support Safe Futures and Local Families in Need

As families across the region prepare for a new school year, Mystic Aquarium is helping make the transition a little easier for local families in need. The Aquarium will host its Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 27, with $5 from every general admission ticket purchased for that day donated to Safe Futures to help provide school supplies to families in need.

The Back to School Bash will bring together a day of fun, learning and community support, giving guests an opportunity to enjoy Mystic Aquarium while making a direct impact on families in the region.

A Day of Back-to-School Fun

Guests attending the Back to School Bash can kick off the school year with a full day of family-friendly activities throughout the Aquarium. The event will feature kid karaoke, hula hoop contests, lawn games, crafts, an obstacle course, and more, giving children and families plenty of opportunities to play, explore and learn together. Guests can also discover the many career opportunities available at Mystic Aquarium and learn how interests in science, animals, conservation, education, veterinary medicine, research and other fields can translate into meaningful careers. Through opportunities to connect with Aquarium staff and explore the wide range of professionals who work behind the scenes and in front of guests each day, students can get a firsthand look at the people and pathways that help protect ocean life.

Of course, no visit would be complete without exploring Mystic Aquarium’s exhibits and experiences. Families can see beluga whales, sea lions, penguins and other marine animals while making the most of the final days of summer and getting ready to head back to school.

Safe Futures, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and ending domestic violence in Connecticut, provides comprehensive services and support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Donations from the Back to School Bash will help Safe Futures provide essential school supplies to families who need them.

The Back to School Bash will take place Thursday, August 27, at Mystic Aquarium. $5 from every general admission ticket purchased for the event will be donated to Safe Futures.
