Mystic Knotwork, maker of handcrafted nautical knot décor and maritime-inspired gifts, is expanding with a new location just opened at Olde Mistick Village. Mystic Knotwork owner Matt Beaudoin said the move from a small shop on Holmes Street in downtown Mystic will provide more production and retail space as well as improved access for customers since Olde Mistick Village provides ample free parking. The existing site on Cottrell Street in downtown Mystic, with production, retail and shipping operations, will remain. “The Olde Mistick Village shop will offer customers a much better immersive experience where they can watch us customize their bracelets or coasters or most anything else while they wait,” Beaudoin said. “We let people pick their own colors for our custom bracelets or other designs and they love to watch us make them right there in the shop.” Beaudoin’s grandfather started selling his unique items in 1957 and Matt learned the craft at his side as a child in 1977. The outside of the new site will resemble a marina, with pilings out front and more nautical décor being added as Beaudoin expands his vision for the immersive aspect of the shop. “Having Mystic Knotwork join us is special because Matt and his family are Mystic natives,” said Chris Regan, Co-Trustee and General Manager of Olde Mistick Village. “Matt grew up just down the road from here where he learned knotwork from his grandfather. Matt and his staff are a welcome addition to the Olde Mistic Village family.” Visit Mystic Knotwork for store hours, product information, and more on the move to Olde Mistick Village.
