On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH) awarded Always Home the Be Homeful Award for Innovative Work to End Family Homelessness. Presented by Connecticut's Commissioner of Housing Seila Mosquera-Bruno during CCEH’s 2025 Annual Training Institute, the Be Homeful Award not only celebrates Always Home’s achievements but also inspires continued action and advocacy to end family homelessness.

Always Home’s Executive Director Tricia Cunningham accepted the award, highlighting that the nonprofit’s success is rooted in a legacy of strong leadership, steadfast community support, and the dedication of both staff and Board members. Since its founding in 1998, Always Home has been a leader in preventing family homelessness. The 501(C)(3) non-profit works exclusively with Eastern Connecticut families with minor children, focusing on providing families in housing crisis with timely services and targeted resources that help them quickly stabilize their housing and move forward in their lives. Annually, the nonprofit serves over 450 low-income families from Connecticut’s New London and Windham counties.

Cunningham also emphasized the importance of collaboration and the multi-agency efforts of Connecticut’s Eastern Coordinated Access Network (ECAN), which plays a vital role in Connecticut’s homeless response system. As a designated Family HUB within the ECAN, Always Home provides intake assessment and case management services to families from Eastern Connecticut. “It is the ECAN’s unique partnership and constant ability to work together that truly brings innovation to the fight against family homelessness,” she stated.
