The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation is just two weeks away from its 39th Annual Holiday Gala. The event, happening on Friday, December 13, from 5:30 to 10:00 pm at Mohegan Sun, has a full run of show planned. New this year to the scene are digital bidding and live musical performances. An enhanced online component to the silent auction, along with the dazzling String of Pearls who declare themselves as the Best of Big Band Swing, will accompany the well-known lineup of a champagne toast, decadent buffet spread, and cocktail hour. This year’s coveted door prize is donated than none-other Tommy Toy Fund-who is celebrating their 50th year of operation and honoring the Gala as a drop-off location. These additions to the 2024 Holiday Gala however are not just about the glitz and glam; they are about uniting the community for a calling to children and families of the region. The Holiday Gala is projected to attract nearly 500 attendees. This event is one of two of the Foundation’s biggest fundraisers; the second being a bowl-a-thon. Last year’s benefit accrued almost 130 auction items and in conjunction with the Bowl-A-Thon allowed the Foundation to award almost $120,000 in scholarships and grants. Over the course of the Foundation’s 30 years, in total they’ve invested over $2 million dollars into the community. Allocations have funded work for many sectors, ranging from social service providers and workforce development organizations, rehabilitation centers, culture and arts institutions, food justice programs, and more. The Foundation would like to note the event’s success is greatly contributed in part to its generous host, Mohegan Tribe. The Gala committee during the live auction portion will showcase sample testimonies of grantees from $50-$500 tiers, and the range of impact the crowd’s monetary contributions can make. Between the ticketed, silent, and live auctions, participants will have the opportunity to invest on various levels while enjoying the evening’s entertainment. All are invited to take part in the festivities and help aid the Foundation in continuing its service to eastern Connecticut. Sponsorships and auction items will be accepted until the week before the event. Interested donors are encouraged to reach out to events@chamberect.com. Advance ticket, table, and sponsorship purchases can be made at chamberect.com/gala. Dress code is black tie optional.
