The Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (SCADD) is proud to announce the official kickoff of its 60th anniversary celebration, 60 Years of New Beginnings, with a fundraising event hosted by the Buscetto Family, owner of Filomena’s Restaurant & Private Dining in Waterford, CT, Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The event will be held during Recovery Month, a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating the journey of recovery. Guests will enjoy an inspiring evening featuring signature mocktails, a lively atmosphere, and retired Waterford Police Officer Gil Maffeo as Guest Bartender. Officer Maffeo retired after 26 years of service with the Waterford Police Department. He was honored as the Waterford Police Officer of the Year in 2016, named MADD Top Cop in 2017, and is an 11-time recipient of the MADD Award. “We want people to know they don’t need alcohol to have a good time or make a difference. Hosting a Sober Celebration is about creating space for everyone, no matter where they are in their journey,” said Mike Buscetto, Filomena’s Owner. “We’re honored to help kick off SCADD’s 60th year with purpose and heart.” Filomena’s will donate 100% of the proceeds from mocktail sales throughout the month of September to support SCADD’s life-saving programs and services, helping individuals on their path to recovery. “This event is more than a celebration, it’s a call to action,” said Stacey Lawton, SCADD’s Chief Executive Officer. “We’re grateful to the Buscetto Family and the Filomena’s staff for helping us launch our 60th year with a powerful message of hope, connection, and community support.” The event is open to the public, and SCADD encourages all supporters, partners, and community members to attend and help raise awareness about recovery. Advance registration is not necessary. If you or your business would like to host a Sober Celebration to benefit SCADD 60th Year, please contact Jessica French at jessicafrench@scadd.org.
