Shea Trust Continues to Support TVCCA's Nutrition Services in New London

The James P. & Mary E. Shea Perpetual Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, has renewed its support of Thames Valley Council for Community Action’s Senior Nutrition program for 2025, awarding $5,000 to TVCCA to support meal services benefitting New London, CT seniors. In addition to delivering Meals on Wheels, along with wellness checks, to homebound seniors, the program serves congregate lunches daily to active elders at the Broad Street Senior Center, and monthly to residents at four senior housing sites.

“Like older people everywhere, New Londoners express a strong preference to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible,” said TVCCA’s Director of Senior Nutrition Eugene Theroux.

“TVCCA’s nutrition programs receive only a portion of their required funding from state and federal sources; we rely on great community partners like the Shea Trust to help ensure that we can deliver meals to every New London senior who needs our service.”

For more information about TVCCA’s services that support elders’ independence, including energy and rental assistance, emergency housing, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), transportation vouchers, etc. please call Community Services at (860) 444-0006 or visit tvcca.org.
