Southeastern CT Robotics’ Rookie Team Qualifies for FIRST World Championship in Houston; Seeking Donations

Technology People

Southeastern CT Robotics, Inc's is thrilled to share that its first-year rookie FIRST Tech Challenge team 30393, Lumens Cubed has qualified for the FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas. This is quite an accomplishment that speaks to the determination of both the team and their coach. The team has eight members, ranging in age from 13 to 15. Our diverse members come from five towns in New London County and attend four different High Schools. Most participated in our FIRST Lego League middle school program here in New London at Southeastern CT Robotics, Inc., where they learned about gracious professionalism and "coopertition". Two terms coined by FIRST that demonstrate their Core Values of respect and empathy during competition.

Over the course of the season they earned all three possible robot awards at their competitions: Control, Innovation, and Design. They have consistently placed in the top third of the participating teams, making it to the second alliance at two qualifying events and at their State Championship.

The trip to Houston, while a fantastic opportunity and a great honor, is expensive. The team is running a GoFundMe https://gofund.me/63d7e4832 and will be selling Double Good popcorn from March 27 to March 31. Feel free to stop by our Labs, Atrium 101 and Atrium 103, in Harris Place, 165 State Street, New London to pre-order yours.
