The Auxiliary of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital invites the community to its annual Lights of Love lighting ceremony on Tuesday, December 8, at 5:00 p.m. in the hospital lobby. The evening includes the lighting of the Christmas tree and Menorah, followed by a special musical performance and refreshments in Baker Auditorium. The Kinara will be lit during Kwanzaa, beginning December 26. For the first time, Lights of Love will include a Menorah and a Kinara alongside the traditional Christmas tree, so more of the community can take part. Anyone can sponsor an ornament or light in celebration, in honor, or in memory of someone special, and their name will be displayed throughout the season. This year’s campaign has a goal of $8,500 to create a Wellness Room at L+M: a quiet space where nurses, physicians, and staff can step away from the demands of a shift, decompress, and recharge before returning to patient care. Chief Nursing Officer Shannon Christian calls the room “a tangible expression of support for the people who dedicate themselves to healing others.” Sponsorships start at $25. To have an honoree’s name displayed when the lights go up, gifts should be received by December 1, 2026. The Auxiliary of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
