TVCCA Receives Grant from United Way of Southeastern Connecticut

Thames Valley Council for Community Action received $89,983 in Partner Program Funding from United Way of Southeastern Connecticut for its Little Learners Early Education programs for the 2026/27 fiscal year. TVCCA was also awarded $4,722 in designated donations and $10,000 in unrestricted funds for programming that supports individuals and families in need in New London County.

Partner program funding will support Little Learners’ programs in TVCCA’s Groton, New London and Taftville facilities as well as its on-site program at the Griswold Elementary school. “With these fourstrategically located childcare programs, Little Learners is able to serve families close to either their home or their place of employment,” notes Debbi Poirier, Director of Little learners.

Little Learners provides full-day, year-round care for children ages six weeks until they enter kindergarten; Ms. Poirier explained that “this ensures continuity of care during the most critical early years of development.” The majority of families with children in the program face significant economic challenges; the program also supports children with special needs and works to coordinate ancillary supports. “The United Way’s support ensures that our team can work with not only the child but the family as well so that everyone shares in the child’s success.”
