Always Home's HEART TO HEART GALA in support of Preventing Family Homelessness is April 19th

Always Home’s HEART TO HEART Gala, honoring Karen Stone, David Schulz, Amanda Arling and The Whaler’s Inn, is Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa. The Gala is the nonprofit social service agency’s primary fundraiser for the year and benefits Always Home’s mission, Preventing Family Homelessness.

“Always Home started in 1998 as a small, community-driven initiative to address the local issue of homelessness,” said Tricia Cunningham, Always Home’s Executive Director. “Since then, we’ve grown to an agency serving over 300 Eastern Connecticut families each year and are a designated responder in our region’s 2-1-1 Homeless Response system.” Cunningham credits the organization’s growth and success to those in the community who are committed to helping others when the need arises. “We are recognizing Karen, David, Amanda, and The Whaler’s Inn not just for their support of Always Home. Each, in their unique way, is contributing to building a healthier and more vibrant community for everyone.”

“With the rise in the cost of housing and other basic needs, more parents and their children are experiencing housing insecurity that, without Always Home’s intervention, can tip into homelessness,” says Cunningham. “Our annual HEART TO HEART Gala raises the funds needed to keep these families stably housed and we hope friends, old and new, will join us in Preventing Family Homelessness.”

The heart-inspired evening begins at 5:30 pm with open bar until 7 pm followed by a three-course gourmet dinner, silent auction of unique items and experiences (open to the public for bidding), and dancing to DJ Doug of Power Posse Productions. Cunningham also acknowledged the generous support of Gala Sponsors, Patrons and Auction Donors without whom the event would not be possible. She extended a special thanks to Heart of Gold Presenting Sponsor, The Whaler’s Inn and major Giving Heart Sponsors including Block Island Express, Groton Utilities, The Gramm & Battison Families, Mohegan Sun, Mystic Aquarium, Power Posse Productions and Shuta Productions for their support.
