Lyman Allen Art Museum Announces the Appointment of Ellen Anderson as Director of Development

The Lyman Allyn Art Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Ellen Anderson of Stonington as its new Director of Development. Ellen comes to the Lyman Allyn with a wealth of experience, having spent over 30 years working in advancement, development, and fundraising. She assumed her new position with the Lyman Allyn on Oct. 20.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ellen as the new Director of Development,” said the Museum Director Sam Quigley. “We’re confident her experiences will help the Lyman Allyn grow not only financially, but also in broadening the Museum’s reach into the community.”

Anderson, a graduate of Colby College, is a longtime resident of southeastern Connecticut. She began her career at the Williams College—Mystic Seaport Maritime Studies Program in the Admissions and Alumni Relations Departments. Later, as the Senior Major Gift Officer at Connecticut College, she secured support through major gift proposals, planned giving vehicles and annual fund commitments to achieve advancement goals. Most recently, Anderson worked as the Director of Parent & Family Leadership Giving at Connecticut College, where she executed engagement strategies for parents and families to promote philanthropic support of the College.

“I am excited to join the Lyman Allyn team and am eager to jump in full-time to continue deepening and broadening the Museum’s impact within our community,” said Anderson, who will oversee fundraising initiatives, focus on building existing and new audiences, and expand the Museum’s planned giving programs.
