TVCCA Receives Grant for Homelessness Prevention

The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut awarded the Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) $15,000 to implement its Homelessness Prevention/Diversion Financial Assistance Program, which offers families  at risk of eviction monetary help for security deposits, rent payments, overdue utility bills, and related expenses.  This innovative program acts as a vital safety net to keep individuals and families securely housed while supporting their ability to regain their economic equilibrium.

“We’re so grateful to the Community Foundation for their support of this program, which targets some of our region’s most vulnerable citizens,” said TVCCA’s COO Jon-Paul Mandelburg. “The program funded by this grant not only resolves our clients’ immediate housing crises, it includes a case management component to engage with each family and work with them on issues related to their housing instability, so together we can develop a way forward.”
