TVCCA’s Nutrition Program Receives Grant for New London Seniors

The Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA) was awarded $5,000 from the James P. & Mary E. Shea Perpetual Trust, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, to support meal services addressing the unique nutritional and social needs of New London’s seniors. The program delivers Meals on Wheels, along with wellness checks, to homebound seniors. For active elders the program serves congregate lunches daily at the Broad Street Senior Center, and monthly to residents at four senior housing sites.

“This support means the world to us,” said Nutrition Services Director Eugene Theroux. TVCCA’s nutrition programs receive only a portion of their required funding from state and federal sources. “Partners like the Shea Trust help ensure that we can deliver the necessary 21,000 meals to New London seniors this year.”
