The Defense Department launched a 12-week paid fellowship program to expand employment opportunities for eligible military spouses.
The Military Spouse Career Accelerator Pilot program provides spouses of currently serving members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force, to include active, reserve and National Guard components, with paid fellowships at civilian employers across various industries and locations.

Paul Whitescarver, said that with investment from the state, support from the community and the submarine's role in national security, the base is set up to have a "solid and enduring" footprint on the Thames River.

Stonington, CT – As part of our Military Matters Lecture Series, on Wednesday, August 16, at 6 p.m., La Grua Center will present a talk with CT Office of Military Affairs Executive Director Bob Ross, who will give an overview of Connecticut’s partnerships, programs and investments to support the state’s defense industries, prepare for the next round of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and enhance quality of life for service members and their families. Q&A to follow.
This new lecture series launched in The libraries of eastern Connecticut present “Surviving BRAC” on May 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Academic Building on the campus of the University of Connecticut, Avery Point.
BRAC, Base Realignment and Closure, is the congressionally authorized process the Department of Defense has used to reorganize its base structure to more efficiently and effectively support our forces, increase operational readiness and facilitate new ways of doing business. Our panelists will take a look back to 2005 when Naval Submarine (HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he intends to re-appoint Robert T. Ross as the Executive Director of the Office of Military Affairs (OMA) when his second term in office begins on January 7, 2015.
