2023-2024 College Campus Gambling Prevention Initiative
Purpose:
Funding is now available to allow campuses the opportunity to implement on campus activities to raise
awareness about the risks associated with gambling and positively impact the campus community
environment.
According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, 75% of American college students report they have
gambled in the past year with 6% reporting a serious gambling problem.
Adults ages 18-24 have been The Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling, in partnership with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mohegan Sun, Sportech, and Wondr Nation is pleased to announce that March has been officially recognized by Governor Lamont as Problem Gambling Awareness Month (PGAM).
“PGAM is a great opportunity to talk about the necessity of having a robust problem gambling safety net that stretches across the state for our citizens” said Diana Goode, Executive Director, CCPG. “From Mitchell College has spent 2022 preparing to meet the new needs of students and the community as it builds forward to ensure student success. With its newly launched five-year strategic plan, “Illuminating Mitchell College’s Future: A Bold Plan for a Kaleidoscope of Learners,” Mitchell College is poised to welcome 2023 with an exciting slate of new programs and initiatives, expanding opportunities for its kaleidoscope of learners while providing holistic supports to help each individual student reach their October 28 and 29
Now more than ever, gambling and gaming disorder are affecting Connecticut residents as we spend more time online due to the COVID-related quarantines. With the possible expansion of legal gambling options reaching new levels in scope and diversity, we invite you to our 40th Anniversary Annual Conference to learn how we can help ensure that Connecticut puts systems in place to promote responsible gambling while continuing to provide support and services for those impacted by problem The Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling invites you to submit a presentation for consideration for our upcoming 40th Anniversary Conference, which will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
This conference will bring together a variety of mental and public health professionals as well as educators, students, people in recovery, community advocates, policymakers and industry representatives. We'll be exploring emerging trends and best practices July 28, 1-2 pm
Compassion Fatigue is an occupational hazard for those who are in the practice of helping others to make lifestyle transformations. This workshop will address and explore responses to trauma from the perspective of clients and helping professionals. Participants will learn techniques for working with trauma survivors and gamblers. It is also essential for healers to be resilient in order to maintain peak performance while providing services to those in need. This workshop is a training to As the Mohegan Tribe has reopened portions of their reservation, including the Mohegan Sun entertainment destination, new safety protocols and operating procedures have been established to protect guests and employees. Working to ensure not only the physical but also the mental health of their guests, Mohegan Sun has recommitted support for the Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG), continuing a decades-long partnership. This support comes in the form of annual funding and partial sponsorship of The Region 1 Gambling Awareness Team presents Intro to Internet Gaming Disorder on Thursday, June 11 at 12 pm. CT Council on Problem Gambling to Conduct Statewide Awareness and Education Events During March
Governor Ned Lamont has issued a proclamation declaring that March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month in the State of Connecticut. Problem and Disordered Gambling is a public health issue that affects thousands of Connecticut adults and impacts the lives of their loved ones. It is estimated that approximately 70,000 Connecticut adults meet the clinical criteria for gambling disorder, and an additional 285,000 The Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG), in collaboration with Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, will conduct education and outreach events in observance of Responsible Gaming Education Week, which takes place from September 15-21, 2019.
CCPG staff will be on hand at Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to raise public awareness of responsible gaming, problem gambling, and the availability of prevention and recovery services statewide.
