Entitled “Breakthrough” by muralist and internationally trained art educator, Faith Satterfield, the large and colorful work reflects the journey from the darkness of domestic violence and a worldwide pandemic to the hope and light of recovery, healing, and the joy of life. The last piece in the “White Light” series, “Breakthrough” takes the viewer from the darkness and Anthony A. Joyce, III, has been promoted to President & Chief Executive Officer for Chelsea Groton Bank, and an additional 25 employees also received promotions following a Board of Trustees meeting.
A lifelong resident of Southeastern Connecticut, Joyce has 40 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Chelsea Groton, he worked for many years at Norwich Savings Society and People’s United Bank. He joined Chelsea Groton Bank in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending Manager, and was B. Michael Rauh Jr., President and CEO of Chelsea Groton Bank, has announced his plans for retirement after 12 years of leading the financial institution through tremendous growth. Anthony A. Joyce III, EVP, Chief Operating Officer at Chelsea Groton, has been named by the Board of Trustees as the Bank’s next President and CEO, effective January 1, 2023.
Under Rauh’s leadership, Chelsea Groton Bank almost doubled in size, surpassing $1.5 billion in assets, expanded its lending footprint, and underwent a Norwich, CT – Norwich Community Development Corporation (NCDC) is pleased to announce the opening of the application window for the Norwich Revitalization Program on February 14, 2022.

This year, Chelsea Groton Bank and its Foundation provided more than $1,000,000 to non-profit organizations in our communities. The Foundation recently approved $405,820 in grants to 68 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island, which put the full year’s giving total above the $1 million mark for the first time ever. Earlier this year, the Foundation swiftly responded to support emergency relief efforts as well as needs across all giving categories in the wake of the pandemic, making the New London Mayor Michael Passero and other dignitaries will be recognizing the incredible efforts of Rotary Clubs across Connecticut. Connecticut’s 92 Rotary Clubs and their 4,000 members have raised and spent more than $500,000 to help our communities during the Covid-19 crisis. This month, the Connecticut Norwich, CT – The Lofts at Ponemah Mills is set to hold an official ribbon cutting ceremony on September 21, 2018 at 1 PM, celebrating the completion of the first phase of apartment homes at the historic mill, located at 607 Norwich Avenue, Taftville, CT. The ceremony commemorates the opening of 116 residential rental units, including 60% affordable and 40% market rate. When complete, the entire 7.4-acre project—consisting of 5 buildings for a total of 450,000sf—will include 314 apartment homes, a museum, a Groton, CT – Miria Toth joined Chelsea Groton Bank as Assistant Secretary, Community Education Officer. In this role, Miria will be responsible for overseeing and continuing to expand the Bank’s Community Education program, which was founded 11 years ago. She will be focused on further developing the curriculum available to individuals, families and businesses, and reaching more members of our communities through the frequency and variety of classes being offered.

Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT has announced the formation of the Greater Mystic Tourism Marketing Committee (GMTMC), a 12-member group that will facilitate and streamline the region’s efforts to grow eastern CT’s position as the state’s premier tourism destination.
The new committee, a unit of the Chamber, will be chaired by Andy Wood, Senior Vice President of External Relations at Mystic Aquarium. The Groton, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation awarded $94,550 in grants to 59 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island this spring. Inclusive of these donations, the Foundation has provided over $2.1 million in total grants to the community since 1999. The Foundation reviews applications and awards grants two times per year.
