Homeschooling - Draw, Design, & Screenprint
For Homeschoolers 14 to 18 years old, learn drawing and design techniques for screen printing to print on paper and a T-shirt. This 6-week course, Thursdays, Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories and the Clinical Research Unit, New Haven will support more than 60 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2019 competitive grants program.
Priority was given to programs that bring science and math to students from elementary through high school. Additional awards were made for programs that provide for the underserved or to support local civic and cultural institutions. Groups receiving support in 2019
Marine Maker Day Returns June 8
Groton, CT – Ignite, a program of Thames River Innovation Place, is pleased to announce the return of its Marine Maker Day, an exploration of marine technology for students in grades 7 through 10. The full-day program will take place on Saturday, June 8th from 9 am - 4 pm at Project Oceanology in Groton. The registration fee of $45 includes an outing on a research vessel, Arduino kit and lunch. Scholarships are available. The Community Concierge is the region’s 21st-century ‘Welcome Wagon.’ As envisioned by the Chamber, the Community Concierge will be a comprehensive tool for new arrivals to become acquainted with life in eastern CT.

To welcome these and other potential newcomers to the area, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is working with partners from the cities of New London and Groton, additional stakeholders, and the Thames River Innovation Place to create an economic initiative called Community Concierge.
The new program will assist employers in the recruitment, relocation, and retention of Free SCORE Workshop - “What Business Are You (Really) In? How to Grow Your Business by Putting the Customer First” In Collaboration with New London's Spark Makerspace, The MS17 Art Project, and the Harris Place Conference Center
Author, speaker and executive facilitator Laura Sawyer, PhD, will explore ways to build your business and better serve customers by understanding their needs and putting them first. The workshop is highly interactive and hands-on, so come prepared to engage, learn and imagine Fiddleheads Natural Foods Cooperative will celebrate its 8th birthday and recent renovations throughout the weekend of February 5 – 7 with live music, special sales and the unveiling of the co-op’s new owner benefits.
