More information on the new The employees and members of CorePlus Credit Union have brightened the holidays of more than 70 children in eastern Connecticut by participants purchasing new toys and clothing through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Tag program.
This is the third consecutive year that CorePlus has participated in the program. The credit union set a goal of fulfilling the requested donations on 75 tags, an increase from the 55 children supported in 2022.
“We’ve been overjoyed to see the community’s response every The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT) announced the following three actions to address the impact of COVID-19 on residents of Eastern Connecticut:
1. Immediate relief: Disbursement of $403,500 in grants to 24 organizations addressing the basic needs of residents of southeastern Connecticut.
These grants were fast-tracked through CFECT’s regular regional competitive grants cycle and made possible by existing donor funds at CFECT. The grants are aimed at building the capacity of Norwich, CT ̶ Proud families of Three Rivers Community College students packed the room on Wednesday, May 2, when the Three Rivers College Foundation (TRCF) held the twenty-sixth annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
Generous contributions led to a record-breaking number of scholarships awarded to 212 students. The total sponsorships awarded came to just over $410,000 which includes $50,000 of summer scholarships. Many students who have exhausted their financial aid and cannot afford summer courses
