Three Rivers Community College, the College Foundation, and Dominion Energy Nuclear Connecticut/Millstone Power Station are again offering 16 full scholarships for the Three Rivers Community College Nuclear Engineering Technology Degree program. The only program of its kind in New England, it is considered the best in the nation. Through classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction, this program educates students in the theories underlying the safe operation of nuclear power generating stations. With people out of work, small businesses closed, schools shut down, and seniors more isolated than ever, the concept of helping our neighbors and communities has been The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Jonnycake Center of Westerly for emergency food assistance. These critical funds will be utilized in a four-pronged approach to assist neighbors in need:
The Jonnycake Center of Westerly’s Monthly Food Assistance Program provides a week’s worth of food to local residents every thirty days, complementing other government programs such as SNAP. Nearly 3,000 residents of Westerly, Charlestown, Hopkinton, and Richmond, Rhode Island Three Rivers Community College, the College Foundation, and Dominion Energy Nuclear Connecticut/Millstone Power Station are again offering 16 full scholarships for the Three Rivers Community College Nuclear Engineering Technology Degree program. The 2020 portion of the ECSO’s 19-20 season kicks off with a non-traditional pairing: the New London Big Band on the stage for the first time with the ECSO. Continuing the celebration of Music Director & Conductor Toshiyuki Shimada’s 10th anniversary, this concert presents a slate of national and local treasures. In recognition of Black History Month, the ECSO performs Concert Overture No. 2 by composer Florence Price. Single tickets for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-20 season are now on sale to the public. The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has awarded Channel 3 Kids Camp a grant in the amount of $7,500. The funding will be used specifically to provide camp scholarships to children from New London County this summer.

Eastern CT – On March 27, 2019, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT was pleased to recap a year of successful 2018 activities, and share our vision for the future, at our Annual Meeting and Awards Reception. Over 230 regional representatives maxed out the meeting space at The Spa at Norwich Inn, demonstrating the breadth and importance of the Chamber’s work. The next ECSO concert will feature the 2018 ECSO Instrumental Competition Winner, cellist Justin Park. 12 finalists appear at the competition each year, which is run by the Friends of the Symphony and open to the The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has awarded The Arc New London County $4,875 to help develop an irrigation system for its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
The Arc NLC started a CSA pilot program in 2016 as part of its Farm Stand and aquaponics micro-enterprise on Rt. 117 in Ledyard, which provides on-the-job training in agriculture/horticulture, retail sales, and customer service to men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The pilot CSA program, in which The Harvard Business School Alumni Club, in conjunction with New Country Porsche of Greenwich, awarded its annual Community Partners “Turbo Innovation Award” to The Arc New London County in support of The Arc NLC’s cookie microbusiness employing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at minimum wage jobs.
