The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center welcomes Tiffani Gavin as its next Executive Director. Gavin helms the nationally-recognized, award-winning institution and leads its professional development programs for puppetry, plays, musicals, and cabaret, as well as the flagship undergraduate program, the National Theater Institute.
Prior to joining the O’Neill, Gavin held managerial and creative development roles in both nonprofit and commercial theater, including serving as managing director at the American Join us virtually for the 20th Annual Monte Cristo Award. We'll be celebrating former CEO/Producer Preston Whiteway with many O'Neill friends from his 16-year tenure!

The National Puppetry Conference, National Music Theater Conference , National Playwrights Conference , Cabaret & Performance Conference , National Critics Institute, and National Theater Institute all continue this summer, supporting over 230 Scholarship supports National Theater Institute studentsThe Eugene O’Neill Theater Center announces a $600,000 gift from John Gore to the National Theater Institute (NTI) scholarship endowment. With a singular schedule and an unmatched breadth of training, NTI’s six semester-long programs offer students a springboard to the professional world. The John Gore Scholarship supports students from underrepresented backgrounds.
This endowment gift will pay dividends for decades and The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center announces eight individuals who have been elected to the Board of Trustees. These celebrated artists, business leaders, and philanthropists bring a wealth of experience to the venerable non-profit, best known for developing new works for the american stage and undergraduate training through the National Theater Institute.

Our 56th season will contain no public performances or events on our Waterford, CT campus. For the safety of our staff, artists, students, and audiences we feel this is the best course of action for our community. The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center announces a $1 million dollar commitment from the Miranda Family Fund to provide scholarships for National Theater Institute (NTI) students. With a singular schedule and an unmatched breadth of training, NTI’s six semester-long programs offer students a springboard to the professional world. The Miranda Family Fund supports scholarships to further the inclusion of artists of color across all disciplines of theater.
This 10-year commitment will ensure that NTI is able One of the O'Neill's longest-running programs, the National Critics Institute is the only workshop in the country designed for arts writers, journalists, and cultural critics to strengthen their skills in an increasingly competitive and fast-paced industry. The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center announces that, after 16 years with the organization, CEO/Producer Preston Whiteway will depart in August 2020.
