Joint venture partners Ørsted and Eversource joined U.S. Representative Joe Courtney in welcoming U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm last week to tour the construction progress at State Pier in New London. Ørsted and Eversource are working with the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Port Authority, and Gateway Terminal to transform State Pier into a world-class, state-of-the-art, heavy-lift marine terminal and future offshore wind hub.
The tour also included Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, U.S. A study of the opportunities and challenges presented by the Offshore Wind Industry for the state finds that many of the assets the industry requires are already in place but that other elements should be added quickly.
The report, “Embracing the Potential of Offshore Wind in Connecticut – A Study of Opportunities and Challenges,” was commissioned by the Joint Venture created by Ørsted and Eversource to build the state’s first offshore wind farm and was overseen by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Diverse group of students from across Connecticut work toward career in electric utility industry
Eversource’s first class of students enrolled in the Electrical Lineworker Certificate Program are nearing completion of the course and a future career in the electric power industry. The energy company partnered with Capital Community College (CCC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Unions 420 and 457 to offer the new certification program that’s helping to cultivate the Registration for Over the Edge – a fundraiser hosted by Mohegan Sun to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut - is now open! Offshore wind joint development partners Ørsted and Eversource today announced that they have awarded a $100,000 grant to the Niantic Children’s Museum. The award will support the creation of several new hands-on, STEM-focused exhibits that will help educate and inspire the next generation of scientific leaders.
