The annual Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race, sponsored by the Arc Eastern Connecticut, celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. Held on Sunday October 2 at Camp Harkness in Waterford, the race offers prizes to top finishers as well as a family fun run/walk/roll. All proceeds benefit programs that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in eastern Connecticut. A virtual option is also available this year for those who can’t make it the day of the race.
“We owe much of the EAST LYME - Flanders Fish Market is thrilled to announce their partnership with the Crescent Beach Association in Niantic, Connecticut to operate their longstanding Crescent Beach Stand at 37 Bayview Avenue for the summer of 2019.
Opening for weekend service beginning Memorial Day Weekend on May 25, the Crescent Beach Stand Powered by Flanders Fish will begin daily operation on Crescent Beach Kickoff Day, June 22 through Labor Day Weekend, with weekend service continuing through September. Hours of East Lyme, CT – Flanders Fish Market and Restaurant celebrates their 35th anniversary on December 23rd, 2018. During the hustle & bustle of the holidays this month, come grab your shrimp platter and help Flanders Fish toast to 35 years of being a part of this wonderful southeastern Connecticut community!
Paul Formica and his late wife, Donna, opened Flanders Fish Market on December 23rd, 1983 at 11AM with just $41 to their name – and they put it in the register to make change. Since then, their tiny Norwich, CT – The Dominion Foundation has donated $10,000 to The Arc New London County’s vocational/employment training program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Funds will be used to offset the costs of a commercial bakery oven that will be part of the cookie production component of The Arc’s Culinary Arts program.
