The COVID Relief Fund for the Arts, administered by the Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) within the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), was created to support arts nonprofits that
are performing arts centers, schools of the arts, or performing groups for whom grants will make a difference in terms of survival or rehiring; and have had to curtail operations for a period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and which have had limited ability to reopen due to pandemic restrictions The Connecticut Office of the Arts is pleased to announce the recipients of the FY21 Supporting Arts grants program. The Supporting Arts grant program provides unrestricted funding to help support Connecticut's arts organizations and municipal arts departments as they pursue their mission. This type of grant is flexible rather than for specific projects or programs and gives the grantee the ability to use The Southeastern Connecticut chapter of SCORE, Mentors to America’s Small Businesses, will present a free Small Business Workshop on Tuesday, September 10, 9 - 10:30 a.m. in Old Saybrook. The workshop covers how to "Get Found on Google Search and Maps" and “Reach Customers Online with Google,” presented by Google speaker Sixcia Devine and SCORE mentor Anne Driscoll. The event is co-sponsored by the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce.
With Sixcia Devine and Anne Driscoll, attendees will explore Google My New London, CT – In a unique collaboration between two leading southeastern Connecticut cultural institutions, the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) in Old Saybrook and the Garde Arts Center co-present The High Kings on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 8 pm at the historic Garde Theater, 325 State Street, New London.
The High Kings, contemporary heirs of Ireland’s folk heritage, are returning to the region as part their “Decade World Tour” after multiple sold-out performances at The Kate. The

The Oscar Party is the Kate’s annual red-carpet event that honors our 12-time Oscar Nominated, 4-time-winning namesake, and makes for a great party. Walk the red carpet. Pose for a photo or two. Bid on an Aspire to excellence!
Registration for Eastern Connecticut Ballet’s 2016-2017 25th Anniversary Season is underway. Students (ages 3 through adult and professional) will enjoy challenging and age-appropriate classes in ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, tap and more.
Classes are offered at ECB’s main studios at 435 Boston Post Rd., East Lyme, centrally located and convenient off of I-95. Children’s ballet classes (ages 3-5) are also offered in Old Saybrook at The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Old Saybrook, CT – Legendary interviewer and author Dick Cavett has been chosen to receive the inaugural Spirit of Katharine Hepburn Award. The award, given by the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, will be bestowed yearly upon an individual who embodies the spirit, independence, and character of the legendary actress.
The award itself is a graceful statuette sculpted in the likeness of Katharine Hepburn by Kimberly Monson, an artist and faculty member of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. It will be Board of Trustee members and an excited audience gathered for the first film in the new arts collaboration between Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, entitled Bridging the Arts. Bridging the Arts is a curated film series featuring a selection of art films owned by the College and produced by the highly-regarded Checkerboard Film Foundation in New York City, which document iconic artists whose unique and important contributions informed American culture. Prior Old Saybrook, CT – The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (the Kate) is pleased to welcome three new members to the Board of Trustees that oversees the Kate. Joining the board as of February, 2016 is Devin Carney, Thomas Gezo, and Anne Barosewicz-Mele.
Mr. Carney is the Connecticut State Representative for the 23rd District, which includes Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook. Mr. Carney has been involved with the Kate’s Oscar Party for the last several years where he proudly contributes his Old Saybrook, CT – The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center is pleased to announce that Dana Foster joined the organization as Director of Development and External Relations in November. Dana joins an already robust organization that has successfully operated for the past six years.
Under the helm of a new Executive Director, Brett Elliott, the Kate is embracing the future by bringing in exciting new shows and bright new talent to bring up the energy and community engagement.
