Reliance Health has been recognized by its employees as a 2019 Top Workplace through the Hartford Courant. In addition to ranking 6th among mid-sized employers, Reliance Health received “standout scores” resulting in Special Award recognition for their Managers.
The Hartford Courant partnered with Energage to survey companies within Hartford, Tolland, Windham, Middlesex, and New London counties to identify the top workplaces in Connecticut. 686 companies participated in the survey with a total of 13,747 Reliance Health announced this week that their Board of Directors has appointed Carrie Dyer as Chief Executive Officer upon current CEO, David Burnett’s retirement. Burnett, who has been the organization’s CEO for nearly 41 years, announce plans to retire by the end of 2019 in a press release last month.
Dyer, who has worked for the agency since 1994, has served as Reliance Health’s Chief Operating Officer for the past 12 years. “For some time now, Carrie has had more ability than I to handle the Reliance Health is looking for sponsors and players for their 3rd Annual Par 4 Charity Golf Tournament on September 13 at River Ridge Golf Course in Griswold.

Proceeds will once again support the Teaching Kitchen in Reliance Health announced last week that after nearly 41 years Chief Executive Officer, David Burnett, will retire by the end of this year. The agency’s Board of Directors will announce a successor in the coming months.
Burnett has been with Reliance Health since 1978 when the nonprofit mental health agency was known as The Leisure Center. At that time, Burnett served as the agency’s only employee, running day to day operations and providing support to people who had been discharged from Norwich Hospital. Norwich, CT – Three Rivers Community College will be hosting Vets Connect, its annual veterans resource fair, a one-stop resource for jobs, education, health services, networking and more. This year the fair will include 40 organizations and 20 yellow-ribbon colleges. Vets Connect will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Three Rivers Community College’s Multi-Purpose Room, and the expanded education resources will be nearby in the Reliance Health will be providing CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© for community members this May.

Reliance Health is teaming up with the Hartford Marathon Foundation for their 6th annual Norwich WinterFest 5K and Free FitKids Fun Run. The Stonewall Speakers is a panel consisting of volunteer speakers from the LGBTQ Community who openly share their stories and perspectives in order to create an atmosphere where diversity is expressed and honored.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for The Southeastern CT Cultural Coalition will present “Arts & Health InterSECT: Creating Health & Wellness Through the Arts in Southeastern CT” on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 9:00am to 11:30am at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center in Ledyard, the first of its kind in the region. The event is free to attend but registration is required, www.CultureSECT.org .
