Joyce, III, has been promoted to President & Chief Executive Officer for Chelsea Groton Bank, and an additional 25 employees also received promotions following a Board of Trustees meeting.
A lifelong resident of Southeastern Connecticut, Joyce has 40 years of banking experience. Prior to joining Chelsea Groton, he worked for many years at Norwich Savings Society and People’s United Bank. He joined Chelsea Groton Bank in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending Manager, and was United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved funding in the amount of $1,791,654 for the fiscal year 2022-23. This funding supports 40 health and human service programs at 23 local nonprofit agencies in New London County that work together to provide a vital safety net of services to help those in need.
The Board affirmed its commitment to the community by approving funding United Way’s four key areas of impact that improve people’s lives: Basic Needs; Community Wellness; The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation recently awarded numerous grants to support 30 programs that benefit children and families in the region.
The mission of the Foundation, a 501(c)3 overseen by a volunteer board with support from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT, is to enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities for children and families through generous donations from the business community. The Foundation provides local child-focused non-profits with crucial resources that New London, CT – Registration for The Light House’s Autism Education Conference on May 3rd at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum is now open. Now in its 13th year, AEC continues to bring in dynamic speakers with fresh perspectives, valuable insights, and practical strategies to our region. As the only autism focused conference in Eastern Connecticut, AEC gives educators, parents, caregivers and service providers the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field.
This year’s AEC will feature a new Eastern CT – The 2020 Class of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s Leadership Program is excited to announce that it has chosen The Light House for its community service project. The leadership program has been acquainting promising local leaders with issues that affect our communities, businesses and the public for over 25 years. An essential part of the program is a service project to benefit a local non-profit organization. The 2020 class has chosen to support The Light House with renovating The Light House is pleased to announce a new partnership with Liberty Bank for the 2019 year. This partnership will give The Light House the ability to increase their presence in the community through additional events and outreach, while continuing to provide programming and services to individuals in the Southeastern Connecticut area.
Liberty Bank has a strong tradition of investing in the success of its communities and this partnership displays their commitment to improving the outcomes of nonprofits The Light House (Lighthouse Voc-Ed Center Inc.) is pleased to announce the appointment of Will Robinson as the organization’s Director of Adult and Transition Services at the New London Community Campus.
“We’re exceptionally pleased that Will has taken on this leadership role,” said Kassidy Brown, Executive Director. “His broad knowledge in disability services coupled with years of experience working in the field make him well positioned to lead our Community Campus going forward. His passion and The Light House is excited to announce the award of a $156,444 grant from the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management to The Light House’s Community Campus for the purchase of two new wheelchair accessible vans and the renovation of lighting and rooftop units.

The event will be held at the Spare Time Bowling Alley, 27 Kings Hwy in Groton, CT on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The cost is $35 per person or The Board of Directors of The Light House announces the retirement of Founder and Executive Director, Kathy Greene, as of Nov 1st. Ms. Greene founded the non-profit in 1992 to provide community based functional academics and life skills for children and adults with disabilities, with the mission “to educate and prepare for life”. What was created over the past 25 years has been ground breaking. All The Light House sites are directly in the community where students and adults can immediately access what The Southeastern CT Cultural Coalition will present “Arts & Health InterSECT: Creating Health & Wellness Through the Arts in Southeastern CT” on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 9:00am to 11:30am at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center in Ledyard, the first of its kind in the region.
