The Cultural Coalition is pleased to announce the Art At The Airport program's fall exhibit, “A Day At The Airport: A Photography Exhibition by students of The Williams School.” The exhibit is free and on view from October 1st to December 31st at the Groton - New London Airport in the airport’s main terminal located at 155 Tower Avenue in Groton. Each of the individuals who applied for the scholarships excelled in academia, leadership and extracurricular activities during their high school years, and plans to pursue college degrees.
“The Foundation is committed to giving back to our communities. One of the best ways we are able to do this is by investing in the next generation of young adults, and supporting A welcoming family is needed to host international high school Chinese students that will attend the Williams School and St. Bernard school, arriving in mid-August 2019. As a host family, you will offer an international student the opportunity to discover America through your eyes throughout the school year. Your family will not only gain a new family member, but will also learn about a different culture, its values and tradition, language, food and more.
Interested Host Families would be required to Groton, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation recently presented scholarships to a select group of graduating seniors who represent 19 area high schools. Each of the individuals who applied for the scholarships excelled in academia, leadership and extracurricular activities during their high school years, and plans to pursue college degrees.
“The Foundation is committed to giving back to our communities. One of the best ways we are able to do this is by investing in the next generation of young adults, and Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union held its annual scholarship reception on June 6th where its President and Chief Executive Officer, Brian A. Orenstein, presented 45 college scholarships totaling $90,000.
During the reception, 45 community minded students were recognized for their academic achievements as well as creativity in answering this year’s essay question, “You were just gifted $50,000, but you can’t spend a dime on yourself. “As a community bank, we are committed to investing in the next generation of young adults, and supporting them as they work to achieve their goals,” said Michael Rauh, Waterford, CT – Charter Oak Federal Credit Union awarded $96,000 in college scholarships, the largest disbursement in the credit union’s history, during a private reception at its headquarters on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
“Nearly $270,000 has been awarded over the past three years, benefitting over 130 students in eastern Connecticut,” said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our scholarship program has alleviated some of the financial burden associated with pursuing a Oct. 22 fundraiser for Sofia Sees Hope to feature Jean Bennett M.D., Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Mystic, CT – Dr. Jean Bennett, M.D., Ph.D., a groundbreaking researcher from the University of Pennsylvania who is working to cure blindness, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Dinner in the Dark event to benefit local charity Sofia Sees Hope.
In its first two years, Dinner in the Dark raised more than $130,000 to fund research into rare retinal diseases.
