The Town of Waterford is launching a small business grant assistance program to effectively serve Waterford’s small businesses seeking pandemic relief. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the program is created by the Planning and Development department alongside Connecticut-based strategic communications and marketing agency, Brianna Régine Visionary Consulting. Applications will be accepted at the end of August. Awards will be announced and distributed by November 2022.
Small businesses and nonprofit Ledge Light Health District Director of Health Stephen Mansfield has announced plans to retire in July of 2023, after 25 years of distinguished service with the organization. Deputy Director Jennifer Muggeo, who has been with the health district since 2005, was appointed on Thursday by the District Board of Directors to step into the Director of Health role when Mansfield retires.

Comcast’s buildout in Waterford will benefit the community’s residents and businesses, including those in the Quaker Hill section of Waterford. Located within New London Eastern CT – Thomas “Tony” Sheridan, President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, has been appointed to head the Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA).
The CAA is a public/private partnership that develops, improves, and operates six aviation facilities in Connecticut to promote the state to business interests in the US and abroad.
In his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CAA, Sheridan will lead a team of eleven other experienced individuals in overseeing operations at Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT has announced it will hold a Political Candidate Academy for individuals seeking terms in elected positions. The Academy will span two sessions on Thursday, June 22 and Monday, June 26, both from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Admission is open to all with a one-time participation fee of $35 per individual.
