The 43rd annual Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race, sponsored by The Arc Eastern Connecticut, will kick off in modern style going virtual this year. “Virtual road races are nothing new amid the pandemic, which has forced many agencies to think outside the box,” said Kathleen Stauffer, CEO of The Arc ECT. “So many people look forward to this event, and we knew we had to find a way to keep it going.”
This year’s race The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT) announced the following three actions to address the impact of COVID-19 on residents of Eastern Connecticut:
1. Immediate relief: Disbursement of $403,500 in grants to 24 organizations addressing the basic needs of residents of southeastern Connecticut.
These grants were fast-tracked through CFECT’s regular regional competitive grants cycle and made possible by existing donor funds at CFECT. The grants are aimed at building the capacity of Thomas A. Borner, President and CEO of Putnam Bank, recently announced the hiring of Robert Trivella SVP, Chief Commercial Business Development Officer. “Rob is a terrific addition to our very strong commercial department. We have successfully assembled what I believe to be the best commercial department in eastern Connecticut. This is reflected in the growth of our loan portfolio which is vital to fueling the economic engine of the communities we serve.” commented Mr. Borner.
Rob brings over 25 years Putnam Bank has named Preston resident Lauren LaBelle as the Bank’s new Personal Banking Account Executive serving New London County in the Bank’s Norwich and Gales Ferry branches.
Lauren, a graduate of the University of Connecticut, has many years of banking experience, having been employed with Putnam Bank as a Branch Manager. She is also an Affiliate Member of the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors. Lauren has a long history of community involvement and is currently an active Board Member Thomas A.
