Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation recently awarded 51 grants to support programs that address education, economic development, food insecurity, and essential needs throughout the regions of New London and Windham counties.
The mission of the Foundation, a 501(c)3 overseen by a volunteer board with support from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT, is to enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities, especially for children and families, in the Chamber’s service area.
Chelsea Groton Bank has been recognized as a Hartford, Middlesex, Tolland, New London, and Windham County Top Workplaces winner for eight consecutive years by Hartford Courant Top Workplaces. In addition, Anthony A. Joyce, III, the Bank’s President and CEO, was presented with this year’s Leadership award in the midsize employer category (150-499 employees). Both awards are based solely on employee engagement feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by Energage LLC. The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation awarded grants in excess of $94,000 in support of 37 programs that benefit children and families in the region on March 24, 2020.
“At this critical time for many nonprofits, the Foundation worked to swiftly disburse funds to the recipients,” said Tony Sheridan, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT. “The Board members did a wonderful job of making ready the Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation has announced the distribution of $120,000 to 37 eastern CT non-profits that will improve the quality of life for thousands of children in the region.
This year’s disbursement reflects the highest-ever amount distributed by the Foundation and marks a twelve percent increase over the 2018 grant disbursement.
The Foundation raised funds throughout 2018 with fundraisers including the 7th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Groton, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation approved funding $315,663 in grants to 40 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island this fall. Included in this dollar amount is a $100,000 grant to NCDC for Global City Norwich, a multi-year project of revitalizing Downtown Norwich, as well as a commitment of $100,000 over the next five years to the National Coast Guard Museum Association, Inc. Chelsea Groton is the first mutual or community bank to give a major gift to the campaign for the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved funding in the amount of $2,201,636 for the fiscal year 2018-19. This funding supports 49 programs at 25 nonprofit agencies in New London County that work together to provide a vital network of services to help those in need.
Leading the program review and fund distribution are sixty-five trained and knowledgeable volunteers who live or work in New London County who contribute approximately forty hours of volunteer work over several Waterford, CT – The Board of Directors of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has appointed Joyce L. Gresh as Chairperson of its Supervisory Committee, which is responsible for oversight and audit responsibilities for the credit union’s seven-member Board of Directors.

The Foundation raised funds throughout 2017 with fundraisers including the 6th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Resort Casino in April and the 34th Annual Holiday Gala held at Mohegan Sun in December.
