Waterford, CONN. – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is pleased to announce the recipients of the Annual Military Community Support Award as Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare.
On March 25, 2022, both Dime Bank and UCFS Healthcare will be recognized at the 11th Annual Military Appreciation Breakfast at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa for their dedicated support of eastern Connecticut's men and women in uniform. This important breakfast gives the business New London Mayor Michael Passero and other dignitaries will be recognizing the incredible efforts of Rotary Clubs across Connecticut. Connecticut’s 92 Rotary Clubs and their 4,000 members have raised and spent more than $500,000 to help our communities during the Covid-19 crisis. This massive effort to provide PPE, food, and financial support is an unprecedented effort for Rotary, and it is far from over. Rotarians will continue to work hard, in their cities and towns, to help those who need it as we battle The University of Connecticut Avery Point invites all campus community members and local residents to join us for a panel discussion and networking event entitled “Women Leaders Making a Difference” on Sept. 20 from 1-4 p.m. at the campus Student Center Auditorium. The event brings together a group of inspirational women leaders in the region who will share their stories, contributions and ideas for empowering one another.The Keynote Speaker for the event is Kate Farrar (Executive Director of the Waterford, CT – The Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race, sponsored by The Arc New London County, will be held this year on Sunday October 7 at Camp Harkness in Waterford. The SNERRO-timed race offers prizes to top finishers as well as a family fun run/walk/roll. All proceeds benefit programs that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in southeastern Connecticut.
“This race has developed such a strong following and become a favorite family event for New London County,” said New London, CT – The United States Coast Guard Academy swore in 281 cadets plus 11 international cadets, this afternoon into the Class of 2022 and 139 of those are athletes, including 13 two-sport athletes, coming from 35 different states.
Monday marked the first day for Swab Summer for the Class of 2022. Swab Summer is a seven-week traditional military indoctrination. It is designed to help young civilian students transition into the lifestyle of Coast Guard Academy cadets. The training process starts
