A volunteer Grant Review Team reviewed all of the applicants and made funding recommendations to United Way’s full Board of Directors. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved funding in the amount of $2,219,673 for the fiscal year 2017-18. This funding supports 47 programs at 21 nonprofit organizations in New London County that work together to provide an essential safety net services to help those in need.

Walk to raise awareness, educate, and take action 2016 theme: safe homes include safe petsNew London, CT – The Power of Purple campaign, founded by the Rose Conrad Memorial Fund of Safe Futures in partnership with Hadassah American Affairs of Eastern Connecticut, will present its 4th Annual awareness raising event to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Hot The local board for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) has approved grants to expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in New London County. The total amount of the grants is $138,481, and it was awarded to nineteen local programs.
The local EFSP Board, comprising volunteers from across southeastern Connecticut, determined how the funds awarded to New London County are distributed among local emergency food and shelter programs. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut assists with the New London, CT – Safe Futures, New London County’s premier provider of domestic violence and sexual assault services, on July 26 celebrates 40 years of saving lives, restoring hope and changing the future for women, children and men affected by violence.
Founded in 1976 as The Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut, the agency was one of the first five to emerge in the state. Today, in addition to providing services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims, Safe Futures is a leading voice in United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved fund distributions in the amount of $2,519,460 for the fiscal year 2016-16. This funding supports 47 programs at 21 nonprofit organizations in New London County that work together to provide a network of safety net of services to help those in need.
In addition to these distributions, United Way 2-1-1 receives $52,492. 2-1-1 is a 24-hour information and referral helpline that is available free of charge to anyone in Connecticut.
